intermediate shaft grommet

HI. I installed an intermediate shaft on my 2009 Chevy. I am having trouble getting the firewall grommet back in place. Is there a technique or trick to doing this?
Thanks

Insert the top then squeeze the middle and push into the oblong hole, use a 3/8 drive 12 inch extension and push the bottom in.

I got the grommet in after I discovered the oval is cut off center in the firewall. Your directions helped. Thanks.

I’ve wrestled a few times with that grommet happy to see you got it back into position.

Rest , regroup, attack it a dawn in the morning , try a little bit of Dawn to lubricate the rubber and help it slip into position.
