Just bought my used HHR yesterday...
Makes me wonder why a rental car outfit would unload a car with so few miles on it, unless it was causing problems for them. I've bought a couple of rental/lease return vehicles over the years, and they are always in the 30,000 mile vicinity.
I would RAPIDLY check to see if your state has a "Right of Revision" law. Some states, in regard to car sales, allow a 1 day, 3 day or 5 day, right to take the car back and reverse the "deal".
Sounds like you have a "problem" vehicle....hope not, but sounds like it.

I ran a search at cars.com as I was thinking of a used one also and found quite a few that were rentals with around the same mileage. I thought rentals were actioned off after a set amount of time. Either way I skipped these cars as I wouldnt touch a used rental with a 10' pole.
Do yourself a favor and return the car, if you can, and go to Carmax. They probably have plenty black HHRs in the system.
BTW, rental cars are usually better maintained than privately-owned cars. The manufacturers require stricter maintenance schedules to comply with the terms of the lease.

Lucky for me, I can charge the agency for the "above normal wear and tear" that happens.
to the best HHR forum you will find.Sorry to hear about your first HHR experiance.Hopefully you will find another HHR that you will not have those problems with.As with all first year vehicles, problems can sometimes occur. However, the good folks on this site will steer you right.

Welcome,I have a new 2lt that I left the lights on and ran the battery down .It also had the anti theft light on.When i started it back up it was gone.Dont know whybut it didnt seem to be a problem. The security light was on then and the manual will tell u how to turn it off, its real easy. Also I think rental cars do not have remote start.Hope this helps ,good luck .
If you decide to get rid of your lemon (if you want to call it that), don't be like me and trade in your HHR for something else, every time you see another HHR you'll kind of regret it. But think of it this way, you have the car. Some people can't even afford a new(ish) car!
