K&n

Hey folks,
I was at the dealer last week for an oil change and my issue with the front end rattle, thump, and T/C (service traction) light going on. Well according to the dealership the check engine light came on while it was in the shop and the problem was my K&N filter. They blamed it on the oil from the filter. Anyway long story short, I got charged $120 to clean out the air box and a new factory filter. From what I read in the forum about these after market filters that the T/C light does come on with certain HHRs. Do you all think this is legit what the dealer did or you think they just like blaming after market parts? What does T/C have to do with air flow? Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Jay

Unfortunately it is an issue from what has been discussed in other forums here. The sensor can get oil in there and mess up the readings. I have had a CGS on mine for over 2 years, and I change the filter religiously every 5000KM (3000m) and have never had the problem. Guess I have been lucky. Key is NOT to over oil the filter me thinks. Curious as to what kind of "factory" filter they decided to install however.

It's not unusal for a T/C light to come on when a CEL is on and codes are present. T/C will disable and the BCM will turn the light on if the engine isn't operating correctly.

CSG: Wrong spelling for CGS hot air intake that will lose power.

CEL: Check Engine Light

BCM: Body Control Module

What does LOL mean??

If you mean CGS, that is a brand of intake like K&N
CEL= Check Engine Light
BCM= Body Control Module (computer)

No BS Joe beat me to the submit button.

LOL you guys are funny but helpful. So why would the T/C light go on with the K&N filter? Also went on with the stock filter today. It's been about a week since the stock filter was installed. About the thumping and rattling noise, they're going to order new strut and mount for the right front. Hope that fixes that issue. I guess fix one thing at a time... Thanks guys...

I had to bring this back..
Now with the stock air filter I'm having these same issues. Seems to me it wasn't the K&N. Now I'm ticked off... Meeting up with the service manager next week to go over few things.. Just pisses me off the dealers always blame aftermarket products....
