Key FOB question

Hello Everyone, I picked up a '11 LT over the weekend. It only came with 1 key and no fob. I checked the RPO codes and it has the AP3 which I believe is the code for key fob. My question is can I get a key fob programmed without having an existing one

Nice ride, 18” Cobalt SS rims, looks great

AP3 indicates remote start is installed, look in the DIC to see if it’s there and turn it on . Mark sure the hood latch has wires to it to tell the BCM the hood is secured

Dorman has a kit to active key fob get the job me with the extra button for remote start
if you get OEM fob the Dorman kit will work with that also.

AP3 does NOT mean RVS in 2010-2011. 2011 RVS was an option. Scroll through the DIC, if there is a option to configure it can be activated. Look at the hood latch, if there is a wire going to it it has RVS; NOT the impact sensor behind the latch.

I just looked at the Dorman kit. The package says must have one working remote. will not work on " Lost remote situation " So maybe I was looking at the wrong kit ?

I like the cobalt wheels. Found someone selling them with new Hankook tires for $380. Had to buy new lugs so about $400 . Look much better than the stock wheels the truck had when I bought it

2009-2011 AP3 just means "has fob", all of them have it (kind of like listing belly buttons as an option). 2006-2008 AP3 means "has enable switch in hood latch". 2008 without AP3 could have an enable signal hack because the BCM still had the option programmed.

In fact, the RPO chart says "do not use after 2009 MY". It doesn't mean anything besides it was built as standard. RVS is included in one of the xLT package codes

The wire in question is attached on top of the AC evaporator baffle in front of the radiator support.

Then all you need is a fob and programming after you enable it in the DIC. I don't know why you would need an existing fob, it is the car that gets matched.

I think your right about not needing the fob. Here is a list of my codes.
