Keyless entry

I searched but didn't find exactly the issue I'm having. My keyless entry is having an intermittent problem, I push the unlock or lock & sometimes get nothing. Other times it works fine and I'm not getting any message on the dash about low battery in my fob or anything. Dealer said that 9 times out of ten, it's not the fob, of course it worked just fine when I stopped at the dealership. Any suggestions or similar problems? Thanks everyone in advance.

I'm not finding a link to the how section?! Seems like that would be a key link on most pages.

Ah, here it is- https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/keyfob-cold-solder-repair-22641/
Thanks much. Next question, if I pull out the battery, I don't have to reprogram or anything do I?

donbrew 12-26-2009 04:13 PM

I don't know about 2009, I'd be more worried about the radio. The fob is matched to the BCM, so I think backup memory/power would keep the programming. I am over my head here. I believe that one of those 9-volt battery adapters that plug into the cig lighter would make the Question moot.

I think Silver was taking about removing the battery in the FOB, not the vehicle's battery. If so no problem. Some of the older vehicles have had a problem with the remote receiver module in the vehicle or BCM loosing programming with total power loss in the vehicle.

Yes, that's what I meant. I have an '08, I wasn't sure. Thanks!

OK, one track mind, however, heed the warnings about the removal/installation of a battery. You can easily cause the solder problem yourself:red:. You must remove the PCBoard from the rubber gasket and then gently push the battery in/out, being VERY careful not to lift the "cage" at all.

I have the same issue but it is not with the Key FOB. The door lock as been repalced twice now and going in to be fixed again. Looks like our problem is the door panel.

Solder joints fixed, problem solved. Thanks everyone!

I had and issue with mine too. I was having a problem with removing my key with the shifter in park and bypassed the microswitch at the shifter and amazingly my remote started working again. I'm thinking the switch is a dpst switch and the contact was intermittent for that side of the switch. Its been working every since. Just a thought...hope it helps.

That is good to know, this one will end up in my book of "keepers" for future reference.
thanks
