Knock, Knock, Knock

Help ... got a Knock, Knock, Knock when I go slowly over speed bumps in my Condo complex and over small road bumps, appears to be in Right Front Wheel area. Of course I don't hear it at higher speeds (over 30 MPH). Thanks a 1,000,000 for your help / suggestions / & diagnosis !!! ps. 2009 HHR !!!

Things that go bump:
sway bar links
LCA bushings
hubs
strut mounts
ball joints.

Check the bar links and bushings. I bet it’s the right sway bar link though, because of the speed bump. When it’s quiet on a speed bump but noisy on a single front wheel bump, it’s more likely a bushing.

I suggest LCA’s rear bushings. But sway bar bushings can clunk as can swaybar end links.

X2 its true
my 5 cents:

by the sound of the impact you can tell what size the part is and what part it is...
1. if the knock is clanging (metal on metal) and the tone of the sound makes it possible to judge the small size of the part, these are stabilizer links;
2. if the knock is deaf, rare and you can hear that large masses are moving - these are the stabilizer bushings (and this is not dangerous) or the problem is in the ball joint (this is very dangerous, do not put off a visit to a car service);
3. if the knock is deaf, rare and you can hear that large masses are moving, while you feel blows to the body - your spring is broken, there is a risk of ruining the tires and shock absorber struts;
4. The knock is rare, not large masses move, there may be a clang, but there may also be a dull sound - this is a shock absorber strut or a shock absorber support. Not dangerous. Easy to check, open the hood, put your palm on the strut mount and rock the car up/down with pressure. If under the palm you feel movement and tapping, Satan is hiding here.
5. I do not know how the hub knocks. Hubs usually howl when moving and this howl intensifies or stops when turning. Perhaps donbrew meant a loose hub...

If you have ignored the roaring hubs long enough that some of the ball bearings have disintegrated, they will clunk on bumps.
