LE8 2.2L VVT CPS issue

Hello all
Need some assistance please, it appears one of my Camshaft Position Sensor(CPS)/ "actuators"/ "Valve" or whatever you call them! (Saw CPS install in How To's). The "How To" was for a 2.4 and provided two different P/N's for Int. & Ex. ("looks" the same as mine); I have a 2009 2.2L (LE8) and in my searching I am seeing some [stores] have same P/N for both and some with different P/N's (Int & Ex).
I was just driving along and CE light came on; returned home (less than a mile), and found oil low (was putting off the change... never again) added some (topped off) drove to parts store and they gave me code P0010. Had them clear the codes drove home changed oil & filter and drove (light came back on). unplugged both connectors (used contact cleaner) and reseated; light went out for a day. Now it's back on. put a ohm meter to them (sensors) both pins on the EX. were open and both pins on the Int. were closed (to the valve cover and to the sensor body after removing it). I am presuming that the Int. sensor shorted for some reason??? the parts online seem to vary in price from 30.00 to 170.00.
I try and use OEM (GM Parts Direct) but am a bit cash shy at the moment. Is it harmful to drive "normally" with this condition for a while. And any feedback about after-market sensors?

Thanks

The 2009 2.2L w/ VVT is called the LAP engine, not the LE8.

You are losing oil?

You should at least have the powertrain warranty-unless you are over 100,000 miles. It is transferrable. Have a dealer figure out whats wrong and what you need.

Not losing any oil. I let it get about 1 1/2 qts. low (about a year). I have not had very good luck with dealers & warranty issues. If I can fix it for 30-50 bucks I'd rather do that than spend the inevitable day at the dealer and/or have to leave it and get a ride home and back again (in fact if I had to spend $100.00 to avoid that experience I would). I R&R'd the intake side to test it with a meter in less than 10 minutes. The dealer is not going to pay me a day in lost wages not to mention the aggravation I get whenever I visit. If I have to I'll go but I might visit the dentist first.
I need some P/N's if anybody has them.
Thanks!

P/N 12621505 for both Int. & Ex.???

Continuation:
I got this number from dealer parts dept. He said it was the same for both intake & exhaust, GM parts direct shows two different parts (look the same) with different prices??? anybody...
After talking to parts I spoke with the service manager about my issue and he talked me into bringing it in tomorrow morning with some assurance that it wouldn't take too long (I'm going with my fingers crossed).

If any body has info why one says there are two different "actuator solenoids" and another says they are the same I would appreciate the low-down.

It seems I am not alone in experiencing this issue after a oil change or oil level (high or low) problem, so I will try and follow-up with some info. from the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks

Have close look at the part numbers on the boxes in this GM dealers EBay ad, they claim these are the same for all VVT Ecotec , the 2.0 and 2.4 from 06 to 11 and the 2.2 from 09 to 11 there might be some late 08 2.2 with VVT , not a bad price for both either, notice the connection is grey on one and black on the other.

And read post #341 here it confirms the fitment
