Manual trans carpet issue.

About 14,000 mostly freeway miles, the carpet is completely worn through where my foot hits it depressing the clutch pedal. That seem like some pretty cheap carpeting to me.

Had the same issue with my 91 S10 and my 2001 S10.

Mine is a 2007 LS with over 45,000 miles and not a bit of wear showing on the carpet or original floor mats. Of course I take my foot off the floor to depress the clutch pedal. I also keep my carpet clear of dirt and gravel that can greatly accelerate carpet deterioration.

I have the same problem. I'm going to visit the dealer this week and see if there's anything they can do about it. Yeah, the carpeting is pretty thin, not at all like the imports I've owned.

Visited the dealer today for oil / rotate. Service manager looked at the wear, and a new carpet is on order.

I'm quite sure this will happen again, so I'm going to cover everything with a heavy rubber mat.

Winter's coming, anyway...

I would suggest not placing rubber mats over the carpet floor mats if that is what you are doing. One of the main things that happens is that dirt and the rubber are ground into the carpet mat. Since a lot of aftermarket mats aren't heavy - they slide around, and quite possibly underneath the pedals. Two years ago as an EMT I pulled the body of an 18 year old girl out of a Honda Del Sol that had driven under a semi trailer. Looking inside the footwell, I noticed rubber (or vinyl) mats over the factory mats. The mats were folded and stuffed up under the pedals. Poor thing probably couldn't the depress the brake pedal...

If you ever get a chance, look at the back of factory rubber floor mats for most cars, or the cheap ones at the store you can see the warning not to place them over other mats.

Hmm.. I've never heard of not putting them over the floor mats. I thought I was the only one that did that. Both cars have two sets, as well as all of my parents cars.
