When I first started chasing a low compression issue on #4(no cel, car ran very strong), the leak down test showed 23% leakage, crankcase. Turned out that most of that leakage was through the intake valves. The sound in the intake was so quiet, it was overlooked. But it was the main problem. I fixed the valve problem, and retested. The leakage was now 5-6%(and the other cylinders were about 2%).

I would redo the leak down test, make absolutely sure that you are at TRUE TDC(between exhaust stroke and intake stroke).

I just don't know what else it could be. Your results of the compression test don't agree with the results of the leak down test.

Update on the 20p6 hhr 2.4l

So I was off on the timing. Not my fault. The chain I got had the three discolored links on it and the two that go on the cams were off by one link. Bought a new chain. I lined up the old chain and new one and the link to the exhaust cam was one link forward or tords the intake. So put back together and the car started right up but is running rough at first and smoothed out after a couple minutes. But it is throwing code p0106 . So now I'm going to see if or where I have a vacuume leake some were. And if not then I'm going to assume it's the map sensor. Could anything else cause that code?? And do you think that being one tooth out and just cranking the motor and it not running bent any valves??

Map

Ok I checked the plug its connected all the way. I even went a got a new map sensor. I checked for vacuum leaked couldnt find any. And I'm still getting p0106 code and my traction control light is on. Any one have any ideas? To recap I replaced the head timing chain rings and rod bearings. New spark plugs new crank and cam sensors new knock sensor new oil pressure sensor new water pump new thermostat.

Are you saying that the 2 new chains were different from one another?

Traction control light on means the system is disabled. Certain CEL codes will disable the TC system. May be the P0106 code is the reason the light is on.

#84. It means a WIRE problem with the MAP sensor. Is this a history code or a current code?
