Well guess what... my hhr died last night, i wuz on my way to sonic when the temp gauge wuz doing its thing and dancing around... I noticed that after about 10 minutes of this, the temp needle just went completly down, didnt move, then I scrolled through the dic and checked the temp, it read --------, I'm asuming that it means its not reading it any longer, so as I worked my way over to the side of the road, traffic wuz horrible so it took me a while to park, as i opened the hood I could feel the heat coming from the motor. I called the wrecker service and they were there in about 15 minutes. after the chhr cooled down the wrecker driver tried to start the car it it didnt start, he said, "oh sh#t" , the motor is fried"..... went to the dealer today, enterprise had to put me in a dodge dakoda,,,,yuk.... they were out of all gm models... anyways, I'm pretty sure the motor has to be fried, I mean three times overheating in 3 day, apparently the dealer that checked the hhr (which said there wuz nothing wronge) didnt put any coolant in the radiator because as I think back, why would the temp needle shoot down to cold and the reading be ------- ? When it overheated the two other times it lost fluid.... just my guess... any ideas??

As I said in my last post, the head gasket and/or head was probably damaged during one of the overheating episodes. That would cause the motor to loose the coolant internally and send it out the exhaust pipe. It would also send hot engine exhaust into the coolant and cause the temp gauge to act screwy. Anyway, it sure sounds like the likelihood is good that the engine is pretty well ruined at this point. That dealer that said it was fine must have assigned you an incompetent tech or something. I really hope something turns around for you and someone can either fix it right or you get the buyback that you really deserve at this point.

It also does not take long to destroy the main bearings if the coolant got into the oil that I know (wife)

Yep. A consequence that I failed to mention in my post above if the car did truly have a blown head gasket or damaged head.

You'd have to live in the DFW metroplex to know why that's funny.

Does William F. Shatner do his commercials like the attorneys in Kansas City?

I still see his ads here in Brenham. Shatner does simmons and Fletcher I think.
