Question my remote start issues

my keyfob has the remote start button, heres a pic of it

i went through my DIC options with the car in the on position but not running by holding the bottom 2 buttons down, and saw that my 'remote start' option is 'on'

when i press the lock door button, then hold the remote start button, the parking lights flash, but the car doesnt start or crank

lights flash, but thats it

i bought this car from carmax, and they said it was a rental

is there a fuse or something maybe im overlooking?

or do i just have a keyfob with remote start, but my car doesnt have it?

i can say right now that fob is not an oem fob(no trunk button) doesnt mean it will not work right just weird that the place you bought it from used that fob style.

yea, that trunk button does nothing

i thought it was odd that i got a fob with 2 pointless buttons

they only gave me one also, i want to get a second

for that i assume i have to go to a dealer, i can only imagine how much that costs...

I too have a rental, and thru some experimentation (touching the circuit board of my remote where remote starter is on other keyfobs), I was able to get my parking lights to flash. Next time i'm at the dealer which should be end of the week (for warranty work), I'll ask them to see if I just need something reprogrammed to get the remote start to work.

On mine..an 08. you have to "lock" the car twice ( 2 horn beeps) before the remote will work..this arms it...

Look for option code AP3 in your glovebox. If you have AP3, then something is wrong. If you don't have AP3, then you don't have remote start on your vehicle. The keyfob shown in your pic is NOT an original HHR keyfob.
