Question Is my water pump bad???

Just noticed lots of variation in temps of coolant. when driving it can go from 180 to 215. replaced thermostat...same thing. With filler cap off can observe circulation of coolant after thermostat opens up, but seems weak when compared to other vehicles Ive had.
AND is this pump (2.2) the one that takes the special holder to replace it??

Seems pretty normal, my HHR runs at 195 and cycles between 180 and 215 (before cooling fan kicks in). Higher temps normal while idling during hot weather.

Our 08 Mazda 3 runs at 180 and cycles no higher than 195.

Well , I guess Im ok then. Had never noticed that before. The Guage has been messed up for awhile and stops at around 180 or so and I dont usually drive with the digital display set on water temp.
Would be nice to have a nice dependable water temp gauge.

The analog gauge has three temps, cold, okay and shut it off hot. Only make serious judgments by the digital temp reading on the DIC.

Can the analog be replaced or have to replace whole instrument panel? Has anybody put a high quality Temp gauge in their HHR?
