I just keep the digital temp reading on the DIC all the time. Why look a the mileage and that never right air temp. If I need the trip I just set and go back to temp.

The needle indicator in the analog temperature gauge in the HHR moves very little after operating temperature is reached. From 180 to 220 degrees, movement is barely perceptible. My own HHR has never exceeded the normal operating temperature range, so I don't know if the analog gauge needle moves toward the upper end of the scale when the engine gets too hot. Since engine temperature is vital information, I always drive with the DIC displaying coolant temperature.

Well I guess I'm lucky to have the RPD unit on my SS. It displays the coolant temp in digital.

My 2007 runs at the above temps too.
