Need Help car dead key stuck in on position.

I have been working on patching a section of frame that has rusted for inspection. Worked on it off and on this week and got it done today. Get in to move it out of the garage, turn the key and nothing. Some weird clicking and lights flashing key stuck in the on position not running. Take the cover off the steering column get the key to turn back and out. Check the battery, unhook it and charger it. Same thing happens every time. What am I missing, Please help.

That is the symptoms of a dead or damaged battery. Your nearest auto parts store should be able to perform a free battery load test and charging system test.

Also check the connections, at the battery, fuse block, starter, and alternator. Sometimes the battery terminal clamp will crack.

Thanks I will check all that out. Battery is pretty new and shows full charge.

Battery could be damaged if you did some welding on the unibody and didn’t disconnect the negative cable

Ok, then have your battery load tested. It’s usually free at your local parts palace.
just wondering, do you know if the ignition lock was replaced during the recall? Easy way to check , look at your ignition key, small round hole or larger kidney bean hole?

Mine was replaced twice, once before the recall when it locked up on me then after recall.
Battery is good, turn the key to start I get nothing not even any lights on dash key gets stuck in forward position. Have headlights and remote lock/unlock works.
One thing I did when working in the rusted part of the frame was In turned the key on, car not running to turn steering wheel to move the front tire out of my way. Can't remember if I turned the key back off. I would think I must have or lights would have stayed on to remine me.

Saying the battery is "good" means nothing.
At the least, stick a volt meter on it. Below 12.4 volts is not good and discharged.
Better yet, pull the battery and take it in to be load tested.

After installing my battery I now have no power to anything in the interior. Headlights still work.

Ok, inspect the fuse panel under the hood, loose relays or fuses? Inspect the ground wires. Any corrosion or loose connections?
it’s real hard for us to look from or vantage points, so bare with us.
while you were drilling and pop riveting and before that, how did you cut away any rusted metal? Is the starter red wire loose?
