The last 10 reflashes are stored. If a non GM flash is found, powertrain warranty can be voided by GM. The modding of diesels caused this to be a issue. Diesel tunes have done severe damage to engines and transmissions.

Talking

What is this TRIFECTA TUNER you are talking about? Is it some kind of hand held device, chip, or what? Where can I get one, how much HP, and how much will I spend?

Sorry, i'm a computer tech, not a mechanic...

This is the main reason we never got a tune on my wife's HHR. We bought an extended warranty on hers and didn't want to take any chances of voiding that part of the coverage.

Mine, we knew I would be doing enough mods that the warranty would be out the window!

The tuner runs close to $800.00 if you were to purchase it and then buy the programming. What we will be able to do is you buy the tune, pay a deposit on the tuner, install it in your HHR or other GM that is listed, then return it for the deposit back. There is a cable you can get to install and change back to the stock tune if you like.

I tend to keep my cars for at least the first 100k mi. The non GM flash history could be a problem even after reverting to stock - in a non perfect world - if the car were to fail its smog test (2011) and I would have to take it to the dealer for diagnosis.

It was mandated by the DMV that I had to have my previous car smogged at a special referee station every other year because it was categorized a gross polluter (more by association - Hi perf car -94 Formula Firebird) which when I had it never failed testing.

I'm not willing to risk that, I'll keep my car mods to a minimum (maybe a K&N drop in filter & catback) + suspension
