New member, power steering question.
I just had a little chat with an online rep about the power steering failing in the hhr and he said that as of right now there is no recall scheduled. I reviewed some of the reports on safercar.gov and they all seem to be in line with what happened to me. I would urge you if you have not posted your incident to that sight please do so.

One important thing to keep in mind, Transport Canada and the U.S. Department of Transportation are parts of two different governments. What goes for our neighbors to the North does not automatically apply in the U.S.

Chevy HHR power steering issues
I just visited a dealership after losing my power steering while driving on a very curvy road. I was told there was no recall, and it'd cost $109. just to put in on the machine that tells me what failed!!!
I've nosed around enough in forums now to know that I'm not the only one with this issue. My car is a 2009 with 120000 miles. I just got through paying for a complete hub assembly that went bad. My passenger door lock doesn't work, my cd player eats cd's...I'm not a happy camper right now. What's happened to Chevy quality??

BTW, 120,000 is a lot on a set of hubs.
Nobody uses CDs anymore, so they don't care.
Door locks are addressed abundantly on this forum.
Replacing the power steering motor is a very simple thing for any one that owns a screwdriver and a basic metric socket set. a half hour job parts $104. Addressed with pics on this forum.
to throw in the Canadian view, my power steering motor was replaced as goodwill at 98,000 klms just under the bumper to bumper 3 year warranty period, there was no recall for the HHR, but for the Cobalt and G5,G6 and other GM varients but the HHR was not on the list, a call to GM Canada was made and my local dealership swapped out the motor no charge! That being said (well typed) the job is quite easy to do, just a few simple tools and a good chiropractic adjustment or two and you're good to go !
