New poster

Hello everyone, new poster here. My wife has a 2006 HHR.

She got in it today and the gas gauge was on empty. She thought she had half a tank roughly. She does not recall the Low Fuel light being on. She went to fill it up and it took only about half a tank and the gauge now reads full.

Thoughts?

Also, both key fobs became non-responsive. I ordered the replacement fix thing that I saw on here. Now it works about 50% of the time. It does not appear the battery clip attachment to the board is compromised.

Thoughts?

Welcome to the site.

For the gas gauge issue sounds like you need a new fuel level sending unit. It is attatched to the fuel pump. On some fuel pumps the sending unit can be replaced by itself and on others you have to replace the whole fuel pump. Not sure which our HHR's have though.

welcome to the site....

There are some contacts inside the fob that wear out. I just bought all the fobs that got listed here when folks sold them, still have a couple left.

Welcome to the site, fuel level gauge issue could be intermittent, loose ground wire, key FOB, dirty contacts, dying battery, broken circuit board.
