Hey SmootHHR, have you put your worm back on, on your HHR?

Alright, so I popped my wooly worm back on, and got a P0171 code shortly after. Researched it, and someone else on here, I believe DonBrew had his Catalytic Converter fracture end to end on him, not along the seam, and that's what his problem was. I still hear the sound with the work attached, and it is only on pedal acceleration that I hear it. If I slow down, and down shift, and the motor revs, the sound is not there.

My problem was the flex joint broke (twice) , giving whatever the code it was for HO2 sensor problems. That is a result of the #1 and #2 sensors not giving the correct difference, outside air inducting into the before cat throws the readings off.

P0171 seems to be related to the MAF sensor or a vacuum leak. Also your "wooly worm" might have a hole in it.

Wooly worm was off the box until today when I decided to put it back on to see if it would make any difference. Other than giving me the P0171 code, it didn't change much. I imagine that I got that code going from engine bay air, to worm air from the right wheel well..

Depending on what actually happened when you got traction and everything jerked, something could have flowed into the intake opening since the hose was not there and damaged the MAF. OR knocked something else loose.

How long were you wheel hopping? Seems like a hop or two wouldn't cause that much damage.

My wheels got a good spin on it, and when I hopped it was about 4 or 5 hops because it was semi-dry but there was still salt causing a little traction loss.

Just seems a bit odd...the motor mounts and flex pipe should be more than sufficient to combat a little wheel hop.
