New Rattle
New Rattle
I have a new rattle that I can't seem to locate anywhere outside the car. On the inside it is very noticeable. With the car in drive and my foot on the brake there is a very noticeable rattle. As soon as I put the engine in park or take my foot off the brake the rattle stops completely. Driving down the road there is no rattle. If I look under the hood or get under the car (as little as I can) there doesn't sound like any rattle. Only sitting in the driver seat and it is sounding like it is coming from under the floorboard. Please help if you can. Chuck
I can't seem to find anything under the hood. I have tried to hold on to every part I can reach with no results. I know this is a difficult question but it only rattles with my foot on the brake in drive. It won't rattle any other time. So if just something loose, it should rattle all the time. That isn't what happens. Chuck
The extra load of the brakes (vacuum) may be causing the idle speed to drop a little.
My hood vibrates at idle with the AC on because of the slight drop in idle speed. It didn't do it before I installed TTR solid engine and transmission mounts.

If the sound occurs when braking,
the sound occurs only and exclusively when braking,
and the sound does not occur when there is no braking,
logic dictates that you should first look at the brakes, then the suspension arms/silent blocks, and only then further.
