No AC, temperature reading, and temp. gauge

I have a 2008 LT2 with 170,000 miles. I have an intermittent problem. My temperature gauge won't work, coolant reads---,and no AC. The next day everything works fine. This has happened 4 times in the past six weeks. Any thoughts?

I had this happen and I replaced both the thermostat and the sender since they are in the same area and either one can cause problems. I figured why not since they are pretty cheap and not having A/C is a pain!

Thermostat - well known issue. Sometimes it will light up the CEL with a P0128 code , but not always.

Hey GibsonHHR,

Welcome to the forum! Looks like you've received some great advice already, but let us know in a PM if you'd like to have your HHR taken to a dealership. I can have your preferred one reach out to you for a diagnosis.

Let us know if that's something you'd like us to do. We're here to assist. Also, send us a PM when your HHR hits 200,000 miles!

Regards,

Geoff G.

Thermostat, had the exact same problem. Luckily mine was under warranty so no $350.00 bill to go along with the fix.
