Don, what do you mean by a shared ground. If everything is grounded to the chassis, then arent all grounds shared? Then you would need a diode with any LED in series with the ground wire.

+A LED is a diode that leaks a bit of current, thus the need for a resistor. A long length of wire is enough resistance, but a little shorter isn't. Enough to cause corrosion etc.

Got new blower from PepBoys for $50 bucks. PITA to remove old one-have to cut it out of housing. New one installed in under 5 minutes with 3 screws Great to have fan again!!!!!
