Hey folks
Shouldn't that be Dexron VI (as in 6) ? NickB said Dextron IV (4) above. Don't need to put the wrong fluid in there.

2006 and most 2007 came with Dex IV, GM changed the recommendation to Dex VI in a TSB that is noted in auto parts catalogs; nobody bothers to read TSBs. If you walk in to NAPA and ask them "what trans oil for a 2006 HHR" they will tell you Dex IV. Then you should ask them "what is that footnote"?

The difference is Dex VI is synthetic.

I went around in circles with the NAPA parts guy and a mechanic about it once. They both said "I know, but it is easier to tell the customer that is what came from the factory that to read a TSB to them".

WTF would you replace a BCM?
Hopefully the LCAs are cast aluminium.
$90 for a pair of quick struts sounds like off brand meant to be "collision repair" parts, that means good enough until you sell the car next week let the next guy worry about it.

Got it VI, the saga continues!

On my way to install the solenoid kit from Amazon I noticed that the manifold pressure switch had previous screw mounting marks, closer inspection I see crud inside one hole, debris in another and light debris in the third. Then looking at one of the solenoids it had a spot of rust and light debris on the head. I checked the listing and confirmed that they are supposed to be new Amazon says sorry return them and order from a different Amazon third party provider. I left an informative review with out any curse words that crossed my mind. Amazon did give me a $5 credit and said it would go to investigation upon receipt of the parts. What else can you do. I say all this for the other HHR forum members - check your parts when they arrive! If they cleaned them I would only see the mounting marks. The small rust spot means water, was it from a flood car or sitting in the rain??? Either way it's not good for a trans.

Cheap parts

I understand the difference between quality and cheap parts but one day you might understand what's it's like to be old, disabled and on fixed income. When I was turning wrenches I also would never do what I do now. I once had it going on like you. In 2008 I was rehabbing and flipping properties of course I was overextended because until then you couldn't lose money on real estate, then went from working 80 to 90 hours a week to an spine injury with 3 surgeries and a month later having a heart attack and 5 stents put in and waiting for the doctor to say it's time to do open heart surgery for the main artery he couldn't get a 6th stent in. I lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and even our 4 BR executive home on the golf course. Save your preaching for someone that has the option to get Moog parts. Sorry to everyone else, you never know who you are talking to.

HHRs are known for issues with the bcm

HHRs that have bad bcms have issues where the TPMS won't read the sensors, the radio doesn't work right, the mirrors won't adjust and door locks don't function.

2008 did have an issue with the BCM. If the battery goes dead, it forgets certain things, like TPMS. Your dealer can update the firmware, fixing this issue.

TPMS has nothing to do with the BCM or the radio or the mirrors.

If this is a 2008 the RCDLR needs to get a updated firmware install.
The only thing the radio does with the BCM is trade serial numbers and the BCM sends chimes tones.
The mirrors are a switch problem, the mirrors are one of the few things that don't go through the BCM.

Wherever you are getting that stuff is bunk and wasting your time and money.

Life is a *****; I was living the life until 9/11 ruined the business I was in and ate up all of my savings trying to live then I got some weird disease 4 months before I turned 65 that leaves me in a wheelchair living on less $1000 a month. Wanna match sob stories?

Let’s keep to the HHR stuff , I’m sad that some of us have health and financial issues. But that has nothing to do with cheap parts .
I’ve ordered inexpensive parts just to be disappointed in them, IE thermostat and shocks, exhaust pipes and brakes.
That’s why my recommendations usually point to brand name, sometimes you have to spend money to save money!
