No power
An FYI. If your battery is dead, and you want access to the battery in back. Hook up your jumper cables from your assist car to your under hood jump location. This will give you voltage to open the rear hatch.
I didn't check the hatch when I had the wife's car hooked up, but while hooked-up I still did not have any interior lights or anything to make me think power was being received. But, you are right firemangeorge, with a dead battery... that would provide the necessary 'minimal' power required to pop the hatch in order to gain access to the battery. Even after replacing the battery I got nothing, until I looked into the fuse box connection issue.
