now I really hate GM
I returned my 2006 LT this past Monday.
GM does not do the lease return inspectsions, an independant company does the inspections for them.
I bought the extended warranty for my 2006 (and the 2010 we bought) and it paid for itself a couple of months ago when I had significant work done on the HHR (ball joints, lower control arm, sway bar end links, bushings).
This is why I don't understand leasing a car...... When you buy a car, you use it and then at some point you get rid of a used car.... When you lease a car you "buy" it and at some point need to return a new car..... Like "Huh? do I get to drive it? or just keep it in my garage?" I live in a different world I guess.
No offence to those that lease their car, it just doesn't compute to me......
Back on the original topic.... the problems the OP is having with service/warranty and GM may be part of this "New GM" we keep hearing about. Seems they are now bending over backwards to get out of warranty work instead of bending over backwards to keep a customer satisfied....... A lot of other companies are doing the same thing (not specifically auto companies, electronics/computer has been doing this for several years)

My one experience with warrantee work on my HHR was not a problem at all. I had mentioned that my instrument cluster had gone bonkers on two occasions, and since the warrantee was close to over I wanted to get it on record. The dealers service departartment, said we will order a new cluster for you, bring the car back tomorrow, so we can install it, which took all of about 30 minutes. Have not had that problem since.
I have had my front right swaybar replaced and front left stabilizer link. It is an 08 HHR SS with less then 10K miles. Seems to be fairly common- assembly problem or crap parts problem, who knows.
I had a clunk/rumble in my front end for a long time, first couple of visits they couldn't diagnose it, then some of the common fixes came along, control arm bushings, sway bar links replaced etc. but it'd usually come back later. eventually i found that they'd overlooked the obvious - the rubber stops that the hood rests on weren't up enough to provide some preload on the hood, so as the car flexed under suspension loads, the hood would lift off one side then the other. I wound these up so that the hood was held solidly down on them by the latch, and no more noise...now my struts are leaking at 14000 miles...back to the dealer again
I have had the same problem with my '06 since I bought it. constantly replacing parts in the front end, quiet for awhile then it comes back. Im going to be trading it in sometime in the next 6 months, so just living with it.
that and the water on the passenger floor after a heavy rainstorm..which the dealer said they fixed..
