OEM and Dorman handles interchangeable?

Hello

My front two door handles were snapped off when i bought this HHR project car. Yesterday i was working on something else in the front drivers door and noticed that the interior handle has already been replaced with the dorman type. So that means this car has snapped atleast two handles on the same door. My question is this. On ebay there are just the chrome handle part (oem) for sale. and they are about 15-20$ cheaper than getting a whole dorman replacment kit. I'd like to just swap out that if possible. But not sure if dorman altered the shape of their version?

Thanks

As far as I know Dorman parts are usually identical to OE parts. They are at least functionally identical.

However, what's broke may be a factor. The "repair" part includes some extra bits beyond the "handle" part I believe.

However, if you bought your Dorman parts from a store they may be exactly the same thing, just Ebay priced.

Don't know, just spitballin'.

Well heres the answer. I stole the rear inside door handle for the time being while i wait for the other ones in the mail.

YES... They do fit and are interchangeable.

All set.

Not sure why anyone would ever order the Dorman kit? You can get the oem ones on ebay for about 15$ cheaper and its about 3x faster to just swap the handle rather than drill the old door rivets out. It appears the Dorman ones break all the same.

Because the OEM part just became available recently. You used to have to buy the entire door panel.
