Oil in intake?
Oil in intake?
lately I'm having problems with my HHR. I have a different post going titled #3 misfire, but we'll not talk about that here.
So, I decided to remove throttle body to clean since it looked like it had a lot of carbon build up. After unbolting it and looking in the manifold, it looks like oil is in the intake. I don't think oil should be there, it looks brown and after dipping a screw driver in there so I could get some on my fingers to smell, It definitely is not gas. Its oil. I took a pic, just to see what everybody thinks.

The light color that you see is from the flashlight.
OK, can anybody tell me how oil is getting into the intake?
oops, sorry. Engine is from a 2007 hhr, 2.2L, 73,000 miles

I had the same question some time ago. It is normal, the PCV is that tube from the valve cover to the air horn. Oil fumes come from the hot engine and get either caught in the drop area or burned in the chambers.
