Question OK i have to ask???

Ok i have to ask this question. i have been on here for a little while now and i noticed that people always say " when i had my windshield replaced" I can understand if a rock went through it but the number seems to large for random falling objects. I haven't seen any posts about windshield problems but it seems like there have been a number of people talking about when they got theirs replaced in different threads. Why did you have yours replaced? I haven't had any issues with mine that i know about but i want to know for what i may be in for.. Any feedback would be appreciated.

What you would be in for is a very expensive replacement. Check you insurance coverage or plan on spending close to $1000.
Had mine replace after being hit by a rock that produced a foot long crack. PPG is the replacement to go with, an exact match of much better quality glass.

Jack, you need a new picture of your HHR. Your descriptions says you have a 3-bar grill but the picture so the stock grill. We'd love to see the mod!

I had to have mine fixed for one rock hit that chipped it. But I have had not other issues with mine other than that. I can see replacing if it's damaged, but just because..... Not me.

Craked Windshield

I had to have my rock cracked windshield replace because it was leaking and the dealer could not repair the leak on the broken glass without replacing it first. It cost me $275.00 at the dealer. It was leaking at the top and the water was running down the glass onto the dash on it way to the carpet. One of several leaks.

Ok so it's been mostly rock chips that have done these windshields in... I have heard about the leaks but i thought that was only the sunroof cars. I just wanted to know if they we improperly installed from the factory or something. I haven't had any problems with mine just wanted to know in case i ever do have a problem. Thanks for the input everyone.

Windshield

My front glass was cracked by a rock driving the Houston freeways. The crack had nothing to do with the water leak. I believe you are correct in your assumption that it was not sealed correctly at the factory in Mexico.

I have a new windshield now and I hope all my water leak problems have been solved.
