p0016.....car wont start

Please help me guys. 2008 car always ran awesome. Unfortunately, i ran the tank down to near empty. I then put in gas then check engine light went on, and started running very sluggish. Its coding p006. This morning i went out and car wont start. Outside overnight temp of about 15 degrees. I know it could be many things, but it happened as soon as i almost ran the tank empty and put in gas..
PLEASE help......also car wont crank with remote

Hmm. I don't see a P1006 in the list of OBD trouble codes. Maybe you could recheck that code number.

Wild guess that running it low on gas killed the in-tank fuel pump.

P0016 doesn't have anything to do with the fuel. However, it does mean you need to replace the timing chain. The remote start is disabled by the CEL.

You are tempting engine death by continuing running the car; get it fixed right away.

X2, change that timing chain, do not risk engine damage , the code indicates the chain has skipped a tooth.

$2300 ......for real ?

Hi, my check engine light came on, drove home and shut off car. restarted and started ok. Next morning, no start ,p0016, changed camshaft sensor, no fix. Had my car towed to garage. Mechanic says timing chain broke and i have 2 options. Either do the timing set and hope and pray there is no engine damage or send the head out to be resurfaced, machined with new seals etc. I just dont see how a chain can break sitting there overnight. The total cost of the timing set and head being sent out is $2300 wich seems to me to be way to much. Or should i just do the timing chain and hope for the best ? Thanks Everyone. Please help

The chain probably did not actually break. More likely that there is no tension due to a broken guide, or a failed tensioner (stretched chain).

The reason you would need head work is bent valves. The shop should be able to do a leak down test to determine if the valves are bent.

Sounds like the usual scare tactics. P0016 just means the chain is off a tooth, as RJ states due to a guide or tensioner problem.

REALLY easy to figure if it is broken. If it is broken it broke when the CEL came on, not sitting over night.
