P0121 - intermittent

07 last 2.2l auto 288k car is bone stock. I get an intermittent code P0121 and was curious as to most likely causes. Any help is appreciated.

It means that the throttle position sensor is ether disconnected or bad. Has anyone been messing around under the hood? Could be a loose connector, broken wire or bat throttle body.

P0121 - addendum

Yes, I had the thermostat done and had issues with the coils and plugs to them. A short while back I did get the code for a bad throttle body but had it cleared and it hasn’t come back. I will check tomorrow for wires, etc. Just curious, would a loose air box cause any of this? The bracket has been broken since I bought the car and I just got one to replace it. Thanks again.

Isn't the TPS on the pedal?

The actual sensor is in the TB. There are 2 circuits between the pedal (pedal position sensor) and the TB. The P0121 code looks for a difference between the 2 circuits and the computer's expected position.
You are thinking of the Pedal Position Sensor, the part that tells the computer where to position the throttle butterfly.

Inspect the wire harness near the throttle body for chaffed wires.
Inspect the MAF sensor and throttle body connectors for bent pins , loose wires.

A loose air box can cause a loose wire connection to the MAF
