A update on mine.

Called 1 dealer and talked to the paint guy, he said they would redo it but hadn't seen many before.

Called dealer 2 and was told OH ya they know. They use a special green primer and will have to "take care of it if it comes back".

Just noticed a low beam out today.

The problem is in the pinch weld at the bottom of the door. Some of these cars had the glue mis-applied or not applied at all at the factory. (as a result, not all cars have the problem and not on all doors if they do have the rust) None of these shops are going to peel that pinch weld back, remove all traces of rust, coat it with something like Por-15, add the missing glue and re-pinch the seem. So, grind down, sand, prime, paint and hope the customer goes away.....

You may have to look into some kind of "rust proofing" after the fact, like oil through the drip holes or something along those lines..... I'm not trying to start a "rustproofing" thread, just sayin')
DROPPED DA BALL.

GM should replace the doors.

Speaking of replacing the doors, anyone ever actually done this? I'm in the rust belt, so I'm considering buying doors from a wrecking yard in a southern state.

Since I know at some point the doors will succumb to the rust, no matter what I do, I figure I'll put the other doors on when that happens.

Good long term plan or waste of money? I'm on the fence.
