Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
Hello, I was working on an issue with my Boss radio which I installed in an HHR. I was having issues with the parking break signal getting to the radio and intermittent sound because of loose connections at the interface socket. Point being when I put everything back together, I lost my center console lights. I don't get any lights from the shifter (PRNDL) No lights at the doors, no lights for the switches on the center console. As I was looking through a repair manual from Haynes, I found that all the lights I'm having issues with are supplied by the "PNL LAMPS SUPPLY" coming from the BCM. I'll try to attach a picture of the schematic. Anyone have a clue as to how to solve this? This is the schematic. In the dotted line box in the bcm there's that PNL LMPS SUPPLY
Check the BCM fuse panel and make sure the fuses are good and firmly pushed into place. Also have a look at the ground wire, loose connections and the potentiometer in the water fall, is it plugged in?
The fuses are good and firmly in there. The ground wire, which one are you referring to? Is the waterfall the center of the car? The potentiometer is good I believe. I put a new one in hoping that was it but nothing happened.
My guess is polarity is wrong. Polarity counts with LEDs. LEDs are a switch. they create a short to ground when illuminating.
Do all of the stock lights work if you disconnect the radio? If they don't a fuse is blown.
Did you splice into wires or use an interface module?

I'm using an interface module. However the interface module didn't provide easy parking brake signal connection, so I spliced thst wire directly to the radio. Initially the radio wasn't picking it up, so later I redid the splice and that's when I lost the lights. The fuses are all ok I tested every single one of them. I can try at some other time if disconnecting the radio will help with the lights... The car does see the parking brake signal just fine (I can see the parking brake light and the radio also detects it) so I don't think the splice is bad, but it's something I can check.
