parking brake alarm disconnect
Definitely not a fool. Just a different way of doing things. I was just using silly sarcasm. No assuming here-just would not make Felix Unger happy....
Drove a mid 60s chevelle station wagon for an auto parts store in the mid 80s, the headers rubbed a hole (bigger block than space under the hood) through one of the brake lines while I was dropping parts off to a Police Station Garage. White smoke every time I stepped on the brakes, dropped the parts & drove back to the store using the "emergency" brake. Worked in that instance. Continuous usage though would be asking for a lockup.
Had the issue with my rotors also. Changed em out at about 30,000. No issues with the new aftermarket stuff and a good adjustment of the rear brakes. As stated in other threads-that's the key.

working on it-
Are your back brakes manually adjusted up properly ?
My e-brake only needs 2 - 3 clicks to hold my truck from moving in gear.. Any more clicks, & I know it time to adjust my rear brakes..
Just sayin..

Having been one of those 60's VW drivers I did know what you meant, I eventually went to Karmann-Ghia's with front disks, that fixed that with style.
I have decided that after replacing everything that I am willing to replace, and have no problem actually stopping, and have no pedal pulsing It's just an HHR thing. My current theory is either the intermediate shaft U-joint and/or the rack and pinion.
