For people that change outer seal on the transmission
 

Got a 2007 2lt automatic and my seal where the axle goes in the trans is weeping on the passenger side .. So my question is this side has that stub shaft ? if so does axle spline go over it ? I just want to replace the outer seal to stop the leak ... This is the first time playing with it and I really don’t want to be playing with the stub at all .. So I know there people here that have done it before so just lookin at inputs and what to look out for ... thanks

Yes, passenger side it usually stays on the axle and you have to remove it to put it on the new axle. I had some success using a muffler clamp and a hammer, there is a post with pics somewhere on here.

thanks don can you pry bar the axle out ? I mean I’m asking because I’m not doing the job because bad back problems .. just letting the shop do it ..

One of those BF screwdrivers with a bent tip is the perfect tool but anything that fits will do it. Slide hammer is the right way; Don't pull on the axle, that will mess the tri-pot up. You have to get between the tri-pot and the trans housing.

I used two flat pry bars , one from the top one from the bottom, the axle popped right out, without the stub shaft.
