Possible new owner with a ? about moonroof leaks

Hello all! We are looking to trade in our Vibe GT for a Golden Teal HHR LT. My moonroof has leaked since day one and has just gotten worse over the last 4 years. Had it to dealer many times to get "They all leak a little bit as that's what it is desiged to do." We finally gave up and have only hand washed it for 4 years. Now the roof is leaking like a sieve and the right hand pass side floor has been flooded during recent hard rains. Possibly a drain tube problem.

We were going to get HHR without the roof beause of this but the one we love has the roof. My question is are there similar problems with the HHR roof???

Any input that could be of assistance would help a great deal. Thanks and I apologize if I am being redundant. I used my pal the search and perused all of the problems/ service issues posts but if something was there I missed it. Probably when my eye crossed after about 4 hours of reading here and research for my new ride.

Y'all seem like a great group. Looking forward to my new retro ride!!

K9

Hi! Thanks for the welcome and for the thread. It sounds like my Vibe which as was stated in the posts the leak did become a problem later. I'd welcome hearing from anyone elseespecially anyone with an "07.

I've had my HHR for about two years now and have never had a leak or any problems with it what so ever.

Having worked in automotive service for over 40 years, I wouldn't buy ANY car with a moon roof. Sooner or later they WILL leak!
But there are people here that love them. Diferent strokes for diferent folks.

I have an 07 HHR 2LT with a sunroof. I haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood ) with leaking or anything. I know there have been people on here with water issues, but I don't know if it was because of a sunroof or not.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the thoughts and experience. We would prfer not to have a moonroof but the next closest teal is in Atlanta, Ga. We're not sure if they will dealer trade this far. I know they used to but times have changed so much. Also my dad is retired GM so no one is going to make much money except possibly on the back end.

I have had Dory for nearly 2 years and not one leak from the sunroof. (well, not that weren't caused by leaving it vented when it started pouring )

The only problem with my sunroof was when one of the platic pieces that support the wind screen snapped, but the dealer took care of that at no cost to me.
