You might as well if it is not working.
As for the' Dorman' switch, I personally vote against it.
I won't use Dorman anything, but that's just me.
Use GM parts. Not that much more $$.
My experience has been good. Most of the parts I have gotten from them even have identical mold marks to the factory part being replaced.
My inside mirror is just a regular old mirror. No electronics at all. The 21 fuse wouldn't have anything to do with it in my car. When I checked the fuse box I made sure all the fuses were seated.
If you have a 2009 2LT, it should not have a "regular old mirror". 2LT's had all the "extras" and the upgraded mirror should be there.
(if it's a former rental or fleet car, maybe those did come with the basic mirror...not sure)
But the point I was trying to make, is that #21 is the fuse, there's nothing in the interior fuse block that powers the outside mirrors. Not that I can see. Please share your idea, or what you read.

My current HHR started out life as a rental and has a regular old mirror not the upgraded mirror. It also doesn't have onstar. Because it doesn't have onstar it also doesn't have bluetooth since BT is integrated into the onstar module. I checked into getting the module and it wouldn't have worked so I bought an aftermarket bluetooth speaker and paired it with my phone.
My previous2008 HHR was an LS and DID have the upgraded mirror. I initially missed the compass in that one but now I am so used to not having one that I don't miss it.
Others have just unplugged the OnStar unit then installed a new one with BT (from junkyard), no subscription needed.
I don't know if the harness is already there; however the BT included with OnStar is telephone only.

This is one of the many threads I read yesterday before posting. There seems to be a difference whther or not there might be an interior fuse. It is easy to access so it won't be hard to check out. I hope to catch a break in the rain to check that and the other speakers. I know the passenger front speaker is working but haven't checked the other 5. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...mirrors-50963/

Onstar was never installed so I was told there isn't a harness to it at all. That's why I didn't want to be bothered and went with the BT speaker microphone that I put on my visor. There also isn't a shark fin antenna
The exterior mirrors fuse is in the under hood fuse box, double check the fuse relay map in the fuse box lid, I believe it’s #21
I don’t see any references to a fuse for the switch or mirrors in the interior fuse panel
