Power steering just went off!
i'am having the same problems with my 2006 hhr and a friend of ours found out that the cobalt and hhr have same power steering unit. Its made by same company. And gm is currently in a lawsuit with the makers of the power steering units.someone told me to try and put in a new battery. And i just found out that know one has a battery for the hhr and you have to get it from the dealer my battery has 3400 cold cranking amps when its only suppose to have 600. So my electrical system is going haywire.

I just started having a problem with blowing the circuit breaker on the electronic power steering (EPS) #19. I can let it cool off to reset or swap the cb #19 with a cb of the same size. It happens at least twice a day now.
Does anyone know the correct p/n of the eps replacement? I think I read that 2010 model no longer has the problem.

Yes, as noted in this thread it can be blown (fuse/s) from jump starting the vehicle improperly, or the electric motor for the power steering has gone bad. Here is a thread on how to replace the motor - pretty easy job - it's listed in the HOW-TO section: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/power-steering-motor-replacement-w-pics-31289/
Same issue
I have a 2007 HHR 2LT that I bought new. The same weekend General Motors announced recalls of Cobalts and other GM models for power steering failures, my HHR began failing. It would fail, give a warning and chime, and would reset after turning the car off. My wife is refusing to drive it again unless fixed. However, when I contacted my dealer, they told me that the HHR is not included in the recall (or any current notice) and that I would personally be responsible for the cost of diagnostics and repair. I do not feel that GM has given adequate consideration to the HHR, which shares much of its technology with the Cobalt. At the very least, a failure should be covered if a full recall isn't issued.
