Hello :) Last evening my 2007 HHR didn't have enough power to make it up a small hill - I persisted and heard a 'clunk' then noticed the "Power steering' message on the dashboard and also the speedometer wasn't moving. I went slowly as the car wouldn't change up to the speed as usual - it just was reving high sound - and I parked it in alot. I informed the lot owners as well. Debating on what I should do? A neighbours says 'transmission'?? TIA for any advise at all on the potential issue(s)

 

Transmission and power steering, could be a low voltage problem with the battery, I had similar notice when the first battery died in Oldblue, also a 2007. If your an auto club (CAA , AAA ) member have them come and check it out! I see your in Ontario, Canada, about 2 1/2 hours from me, but I’m in appointments today and tomorrow.

 

Thank you for replying! I will have it towed and go from there, Hopefully it's minor - I love this vehicle, it has been so reliable since I bought it 7 years ago

 

Have the battery load tested!

 

And check the level(and condition) of the transmission fluid.
