Problem with lights on instrument panel .

I currently have no lights on my intrument panel . No gauges work too. Can you shed some light on the situation.

If this is the only thing not operable, then I would suspect a bad connection with the wire harness to the back of the gauge cluster. Or a bad cluster itself.
First thing though: Check for the easy stuff. Namely fuses. #7 fuse in the interior fuse box. #62 in the engine compartment fuse box.

I know on the older cars..when your tail lights were out (burnt) it would kill the dash lights as a warning to get looking for a problem....not sure about these cars though

Is that the 'older' HHR's that do that? Like my 2007?

Not sure about the HHRs..I do know that alot of manufacturers did this over the years...with everything now going thru control modules I dont know about thr newer models...its been awhile since I had to deal with dashlights out so thats all I can input.

I have a 2007 hhr and my dash lights " the dash where the ac is" go out and the tail lights at the same time. But the day driving lights come on so the light at the gauges and speedo work. I have not been able to find the problem.

Check out my post on gauges on and off while driving. May be the problem with the lights as well.

I think I may have found my problem with the lights, I change out the relay under the hood with the high beam relay, and the dash and tail lights are working. But the high beams are not so I think the relay was bad. I think the relay would get hot and stop working. I will look at your post also I have other things going on also.

I realize this is a couple of years old but didn't see a result of your issue, was it the high-beam relay?

I'm having the same (I think) issues. A few times in the past no lights on the dash come on, no outside temp, no odometer, no clock, no radio, etc. but the heat/AC and fan do work. Generally happened when engine cold so I'm not sure if it'd be a relay overheating. It'd only last a couple of minutes then everything would come back on. This afternoon it it did it again and all these things stayed off for about 20 minutes until I reached my destination - dinner. Came out about 90 minutes later, started car and everything was fine again.

I'm afraid the OP hasn't been on the forum since 12/26/13, so I'll issue a Dead Thread Alert.

There have been threads documenting issues with the upper and lower halves of the fuse box working loose from each other, and fuses/relays working loose too, and ground strap issues can cause similar problems. Such as the thread linked below...

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...ers-check-522/

The ground strap is #21 on the diagram below...
