That's what I'm confused about....

You mean like how you pop the trunk on a car with the key fob? I didn't think you could do that on an HHR?

The key fob will not open the liftgate. I can manually open it from the inside, with the aid of a screwdriver and a flashlight, as outlined in the manual but this method is a pain to say the least. The actuator or switch is probably defective. GM didn't do us any favors with this design.

I am guessing here, but does everyone with the problem mean they can't open the liftgate with the outside electric switch? All the FOB does is lock or unlock it.

The FOB unlocks all the doors except the liftgate. The outside membrane switch does not work.

Inside door handles and glove box latch

Hello
The first time I thought about trading in for an HHR (a 2008), I never got it started. Fingering the glove box latch to open it cut my fingertip, then the door handle felt like costume jewellery about to snap off. That was enough. Did anyone else notice these?

Middle of dash glove box

For the glove box in the middle of the dash, I do remeber Reading that for certain that the latch broke and there was a recall for them.

The recall was not for the latch breaking it was for the latch opening in a crash.
