radio lighting flashes
Has anyone had this issue? periodically the radio display/ clock
will either go blank and or flicker. it seems more common in warm hot weather. I am still under a car max warranty but this doesn't happen all the time, rather intermittent. thoughts?

Was your car privately owned in it's last life? If so, there is a good chance that the radio has been taken out for upgrade then replaced for re sale. This would point me at bad connections behind the waterfall, either badly re spliced wires or just bad connections.
It is real easy to remove the waterfall stick some fingers in the A/C holes and yank. From there a couple of screws hold the radio in.
CarMax will really earnestly try to replicate the problem, even give you a loaner for a few days. They will NEVER be able to replicate.
You are sure that the dash lights are not changing automatically, right. You do understand auto lights, right.

thank you for the reply, I do not think the dash lights are affected when this happens
I do think it is contained to the radio display and doest affect the performance of the radio ( sound etc) I do think this is the original radio my hhr is a 2007 LT and bought it
with 29900 miles ( now 80500) on another note I have a broken wind deflector bracket
and want car max to look at it while it is still under warranty but I am not confident in their skills to do the job right

The dash lights are supposed to adjust according to the ambient light, that is most likely what you are seeing.
