Rear blinker won't work even with changed bulb

My L-rear blinker isn't working. When I use my L-turn signal, the arrow inside is fast and loud. I checked and the front is working. I replaced the rear bulb but it's still not working. All the fuses look intact.

What could be the issue? It's driving me nuts and I'm sure the people who drive behind me hate that I'm not using a signal when changing lanes or turning.

Could be a bad bulb again.

Could be a bad bulb holder.

Could be a bad ground.

Yeah, it has to be either 2 or 3. I changed the bulbs twice.

Next step is to check the socket with a test light or multi-meter.

Did you try turning the bulb around and plugging it back in?

Yes, I did. I was so frustrated.

Ok, I'll have to borrow someone's since I don't have one of my own. Thanks for the tip!

Will the bulb light when you step on the brake? If it don't work I would be looking for the problem at the back of the car.

If the bulb does light with brake pedal then I would be looking for the problem around the turn signal switch.

Often times even though the bulb socket looks good, and the metal connections look good it can still be the contacts in the bulb holder, get a can of electrical connection cleaner from your auto parts store (or Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc.) The older cars never had problems like that, but the newer ones with the thin wire for connectors are very prone to it...just went through the same problem with my PT Cruiser a couple months ago.

I was also thinking if the car was purchased used , perhaps the previous owner had installed LED lights and resistors, the scotch locks could have damaged the signal feed wire
