Question Rear door unlocking problem

I heard a similar problem from a stranger on the street, comparing HHRs (we do that), so maybe this is not isolated.
When my vehicle unlocks either by shift to park, or RKE; the rear door lock pops up, but does not unlock cannot pull it up by hand. A third bump to the fob works. I find this curious because it did work previously. I don't remember exactly when I noticed this before or after I had the dealership reprogramming my RKE. I am only positive it applies to the left rear door, as I never have had occasion to use the Right side.

Again, 2 hits to unlock makes the plunger pop up, but does not unlock, cannot manually pull the plunger up any more, a third hit to unlock solves. Also when auto unlock upon shift to park, plunger pops up, cannot be manually pulled, but one more hit to unlock button (either the fob or the door button) works.

Anybody else? Is this foreshadowing a bigger problem? Did Mr. Goodwrench do something wrong again? It does NOT seem to be the hole binding on the plunger, but something electronic, either logic or mechanical. Not a big enough problem to do battle over, or pay for out of warrantee, just curious.

Don

Same as mine, had to have the latch mechanism replaced under warranty.

Make sure that the trim isn't binding up the lock knob....

Door unlocks on command...sometimes.

I had noticed this week that the driver door was not unlocked after pushing the FOB during remote start, then unlocking or just regular unlock command. I was surprized when I reached for the door handle to open up, but door was still locked.
A double push on FOB raised the knob and door opens, this is not normal and now I just push the button again because I am use to it. Maybe the coil is getting weak, I do not think the knob is rubbing anywhere. Reading this thread made me realize this problem was not just me. Anyone else had this issue?
thanks

There is a service bulletin from GM that says the door trim may interfere with the lock knob, so that is the first thing to check.

The locks on mine stuck on a regular basis... just get used to hitting the unlock button 3 or 4 times to make sure the car is open. One of my major gripes with the vehicle.
