Rear drums stuck

Hey guys,
I've got an 06 LT and heard the back brakes squeakin to tell me they need changing. I went to change the pads and can't get the drums off! I've hit the with an 8lb sledge to dislodge them, but nothing. The factory washers are long gone. The wheels turn fine with no problems.
My question is this, does the drum slide over the center or does that come off with it? Mine has some rust where these two meet and I'm betting that's where it's stuck. Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

Factory washers?

They are most likely just stuck on there, make sure you don't have the parking brake set. Spray some penetrating lube between the drum and hub and let it sit overnight.

stuck brakes

Did you remember to back off the brake shoes with the adjuster on the back side of the backing plate?

This is the problem. There is a big rust bridge on the outer edge of the drum. The shoes are catching that.

I also agree. Back off the shoes and it should come off.

You can use a wire brush on the rusted hub flange the drum comes over,
& here's a shot of the rear drum brake set-up..

Notice the adjuster is on top right, rubber plug in backing plate also..
You will need to push the self adjuster off the pin-wheel to back em off..

You'll get it..

if its locked solid its the drum/hub..if it feels springy then its the brakes...the brakes will allow a small amount of movement while the hub will not..

There's no give at all on the drum. The center is the problem. But I got the covers off the backing plate, but can't get my head round to see the adjuster. Lol. If the hub spins freely, would the shoes still keep it from coming off?

If there's no give at all it's not the shoes hanging it up, it's rust on the hub/center.
