First clean the hub protrusion very good.
Then-
Use good penetrating oil, Kroil or simliar. Let soak at the hub (overnight if possible), then occasionally give it a light smack with a mallet..

had to resort to burrowing a 2 jaw puller...got it moving, smacked it with the BFG twice and off she came. Thanks for all the advice!

Now, I've got the pads off, but when I was taking them off...I took off two springs and the springs just slipped off and everything fell apart before I could "see" how they went together. I understand how they go back together, but is there some "magic formula" to get these things back together? Like do "this" first and then....and then...
LOL.. I'm just frustrated. I tried for a half hour and was close but then something would slip and ....
Thanks for the help guys!

You do need the special brake tool that looks like some sort of medieval torture implement, available at the auto parts store for around $10. I'm kind of surprised you got the horseshoe spring off with out it! Regarding the drums: one of mine seems to be an interference fit, and the other just need the BFH, I have a nice short-handle 5 pounder, and don't be afraid to give the big hit (as long as you don't hit the edge of the "bell").

This is from the shop manual, start at step 11 for installing. Combined with the picture posted above, you should be able to figure it out.

1. remove wheel
2. remove brake drum
3. clean any rust or corrosion from the hub/flange mating surfaces and edge of drum braking surface
4. remove adjuster spring, hook from adjuster lever then spring from brake shoe - do not over stretch spring
5. remove adjuster actuator lever from pivot
6. spread top of brake shoes apart
7. remove adjuster assembly from brake shoes
8. pry/pull end of u-spring out of trailing shoe hole, hold while removing shoe
9. release parking brake cable from parking brake lever on trailing shoe
10. pry/pull end of u-spring out of leading shoe hole, hold while removing shoe
11. apply a thin light coat of silicone brake lube to the brake shoe contact surfaces of the backing plate
12. pull end of u-spring out while installing leading brake shoe, ensure spring engages brake shoe hole
13. install parking brake cable to parking brake lever on trailing brake shoe
14. pull end of u-spring out while installing trailing brake shoe, ensure spring engages brake shoe hole
15. spread top of brake shoes apart
16. install adjuster assembly to brake shoes
17. install adjuster actuator lever to brake shoe and adjuster assembly, ensure it is properly engaged
18. install adjuster spring, loop end over tab on actuator lever
19. adjust brakes to .635 clearance
20. install brake drum
21. install wheel

"13. install parking brake cable to parking brake lever on trailing brake shoe"

I wish that it was that easy. Sounds like the wife "well, just replace the floor in the next 10 minutes". It does take a small vice grip and some thinking on the first attempt.

Thanks for that! I basically did just that as above, but I used c clamps to hold the shoes in place while I hooked everything back up. That spring, yeah I cussed that thing all day! Once I got the clamps holding the shoes...it was 10mins and done. Those clips were a bear! Sanded down the center of the drum & they slided on & off no problem now. I got the shoes adjusted out to far, it got dark on me; so I'll do that in the morning. Thanks for all the help!

prod-

"19. adjust brakes to .635 clearance" where is this measurement taken from ?????

That doesn't sound correct.

.625 = 5/8 of an inch, + .010 = .635

I adjust up rear shoes till they lightly sprag, & back off 1 click on the adjuster.. Works fine !
