Rear Hatch Struts

Mine is a 6 month old 2008. I noticed the hatch struts acting weak shortly after buying it. With the winter weather they are not really lifting the hatch at all.
Regarding some of the comments regarding the hatch being heavy or the weather affecting them, I have to disagree.
We had a 2000 PT Dream Cruiser before this Chevy and the hatch never had any problem whatsoever for 5 plus years of midwest winters. In fact, while I like my HHR, the PT seemed to be MUCH better built in my opinion.
I never had ANY problems with that vehicle and this one already has 3 or 4 little nuisance issues...
So far I am a little nervous what the long haul will be like with this vehicle...

I use my car as a service vehicle and have it open and close about 6 or 7 times a day in all kinds of weather and temps. Seems a little slower when cold and was making noise till I hit the shaft with WD-40 then it quit.
Mine is an 08 and is on it's first winter. If it is gonna go bad it should for me I would think. Time will tell.
