I believe i have a variation of the problem with the rear hatch locking and not opening. But in my case, it was open and now will not latch. I have checked fuses, searched through stuff here but came up with the rear lock problem as the only solution that comes close. So is there anything i am overlooking or does the car need to go to the dealer for the recall on the hatch? Car is a 2006 LS. seca650rj

 

Is the latch tripped to the closed position while the hatch is open? If it is, it will not lock.

Alternately, you can try activating the latch manually (I did a thread on the manual release if you do a search).

 

Actually for whatever reason, it starting latching again. I tool it to the stealership, where of course, there are no techs in on saturday. So we went to Wally World and ppickud up a couple of bungees to hold it shut till monday, when we could get the car in. A bit of pressure from the bungee freed up whatever was stuck and it works fine now. Did see a real nice black 09 with the 3rd window delete, 5 speed and 2.4l engine. Looked real sharp.

 

keep watch on it, and take it in if it does it again
let them fix their problems. (that is if u got warranty)
