Rear seat fold down "pull-tab"
Rear seat fold down "pull-tab"
Im not sure what to call it...but one of the pull-tabs that you use to fold down the rear seats snapped off. The broken part is flush with the hole and I cant even get pliers in there to pull it up so i can fold down the seats.
Anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix? Not sure what the part number would be or what the part is called to even start looking. lol

REAR SEAT COMPONENTS for 2008 Chevrolet HHR | GMPartsOutlet.net
look around #8 they list the different cokors.
I think you're gonna have to either get the bushing(part #6, in donbrew's post above) out and get in there with needlenose vise-grips to pull it up, or you're gonna have to get the seatback off to access it. But I'm not sure if you can get the seatback off with the seat in the upright position or not, I've never tried.
Ok, I've been looking it over, partially disassembled mine. The knob screws onto the metal post. The bushing snaps into the rear seat, you can't get that out, and you cannot get the seatback off, with the seat in the upright position.
The only hope I can see is this: You have to remove the rest of the broken knob. Twist it out, preferably, or cut it, break it, whatever you have to do. Then you can grab the post with pliers.

Can you just remove the whole seat or would that do it to get access for removing the back?
If seat removal looks like a possible make sure it can be removed in the upright position or that you can maneuver with it still inside the car.
How can such a small part create such a dilemma.
I have always been very careful pulling on those tabs as they just look fragile.
It is easy to over react when putting the seat back down.
I will now be even more careful....
