Recall Alert: 2006-08 Chevy HHR

http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2...-alert-20.html

what do you think about it?
I have problems with this box. But just the opposite - I could hardly open it. I do not just press a button. I have to simultaneously engage the cover with your fingernail. Uncomfortable. I uninstalled the box and found in the simplicity of its design. There is not anything to break, there is only wear plastic. I oiled cog wheels of a universal fluid WD-40. This is a little help, the lid is opened a little easier.
If I send my box in America, I get a new box in return? What do you think?
News 2008. The program is still valid? Like they do in the U.S.?

Sounds as if the latch is broken on your dash compartment. Don't know if it would be covered. For those of us that have/had affected HHRs, the "recall" was just a piece of plastic and instructions sent to owners via mail, and didn't involve any dealer interaction.

It is a very & very pity. But I was expecting something like this result. Thank you.

Yes, the recall does not replace the parts, it adds one part to keep the box from opening by accident.

Don't see how one can hit their head on it during an accident, maybe the contents flying around.

Doesn't bother me though, I have enough problems just opening the darn thing

It's to ensure it stays closed in an accident.

I received GM's little solution to this issue with the dash compartment. However, I never installed it, I use that spot for the storage of my personnel protection device (handgun) and it would have just got in the way anyhow (great little spot with easy access).

I won't be installing it - heck, I do have a hard time getting mine open sometimes - the previous owner must have been heavy-fingered, I have to press it JUST RIGHT sometimes to get the darn thing open....

And you're right, perfect place for personal protection - our state is going to be allowing us to carry concealed starting January.....
