I have a 2008 HHR. All the research I've done tells me my car comes with remote start but when I took the key fob to the service shop at the dealer where I bought the car to get it programmed, they are telling me I don't. They still programmed it for the keyless entry. When you press the remote start the the lights flash though.
Has anyone else had this problem??

 

Was yours previously a rental ? That could be the reason.

my 08 was from private owner & remote start works fine.

 

I know this answer is a little off course but, Do you by chance have a engine light on? My 08 will not start if the engine light is on, but my lights flash like they should,

 

I don't think it was a rental, but based on some paperwork I found in the car I think it might have been owned by a business.

No I don't have any engine lights on either.

 

check to see if your car has the AP3 Code...and check your DIC if you can access the remote start feature (hold down INFO button untill you can access the different modes, including remote start, in the DIC)
mines an 08 but i cant access the remote start option in the DIC
