the key fob has started acting funny, now when i press the "lock" then the "start" it acts just like you would have pressed the red "horn" button, it just honks 4 times and that's it, if I hold the button down any longer it will go into full panic mode with the horn on longer times.

 

Is your hood slightly open? There is a safety switch in there that will not allow you to remote start...

 

nope , just went out and opened then shut it, still no start just honks

 

Do you have a check engine light on?

 

no.

 

Have you taken your remote apart and cleaned all the contacts, or tried a second remote?

 

I have a remote start that was installed, (already in when I bought my 06 in June) and recently for the past 2 weeks it starts on its own about 7:30 every night!! I dont have an original remote and therefore I have no idea if it has another remote start from the factory- ??? If I lock my car on the door and unlock with the remote i have, the alarm goes off.

Wish I had a someone that knows their stuff like many of you here in my world but I dont. My HHR is fully loaded so is it possible I could have 2?

 

i don't have another remote, new battery in the remote, MOMMA is not very happy about it,and ya know if momma aint happy, aint NO one happy

 

lol... yes I can relate since I am a momma too! I really think my neighbor is messing with me~ I'll know tomorrow when I am not in my driveway and go sit down the shopping center to see if this starts on its own there. Im not a happy camper either with this when gas is $4 a gal!!

I am having the same issue. I changed the batteries in the fobs and it has been screwy ever since. All other functions work though with the remote.
